UP: Free bus travel for women on Rakshabandhan

In Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced  free travel concession to women in government buses on the occasion of Rakshabandhan. This will give relief to poor and  destitute  women visiting their relatives. In the wake of covid-19, the  CM has appealed to people to maintain social distancing norms while celebrating the festival.

The Government spokesperson said that like the previous three  years, women can avail free travel in all categories of Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation run buses in the state on the occasion of Rakshabandhan festival. This facility will be allowed to women from  today  midnight till tomorrow midnight.

This special arrangement will be of great help to the poor and  destitute women who could not meet their relatives due to economic reasons during Corona times.

Besides, the government has also allowed sweet and Rakhi shops to open today , even though it was a weekend restriction  due to Covid19 and all shops in the state remain closed on Saturday and Sunday.

The Chief Minister has  appealed to people to celebrate the festival at their homes  and asked  not to organise public functions  or gatherings on the occasion .

Police have been instructed to go for intensive patrolling and enforce Unlock guidelines strictly. Though the number of Corona cases in the state is instantly  increasing and reached to 89048 but  matter of satisfaction is that more than 51 thousand 334 people have recovered.
