Tamil Nadu govt announces hike of health insurance coverage from existing Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh year under Ayushman Bharat scheme

Tamil Nadu government has announced the hike of health insurance coverage from the existing two lakh rupees to 5 lakh rupees a year, at par with the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat scheme. 
 
The state chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy has said in a statement yesterday, the decision will benefit 1.58 crore families in the state. 
 
So far, 26.96 lakh people have been benefitted by the chief minister’s comprehensive health insurance scheme, who have availed medical treatments worth 5,133 crore rupees, as mentioned in the statement.
