Tamil Nadu CM says State govt is in favour of implementing 2-language formula in education
@CMOTamilNadu
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy has said his government is in favour of implementing the two-language formula in education in the state. He discussed the National Education Policy-2020 as announced by the Centre with senior Ministers and education officials in the Secretariat at Fort St. George in Chennai yesterday. Later, he said in a statement, his government would not accept the three-language formula as contained in the policy.
He asked the Centre to permit the states to adopt the methods that are suitable to them on this matter. Meanwhile, the Opposition DMK and many other parties in the state have opposed several aspects of the National Education Policy. They include the PMK, which is part of the NDA in the state. They contend that the proposal to hold public examinations even at primary level would lead many children, especially from rural areas, to drop out early.
