Sushmaji was one of the most humble and sincere leader of BJP: Fadnavis

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed shock over the death of senior BJP leader and former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. 

Expressing his deepest condolences to her family, friends, party workers and her innumerable fans and followers, the chief minister tweeted that Sushmaji was a best leader, finest orator, advocate of nationalism and one of the most humble and sincere leader of BJP. He said her passing away was a personal loss. 

NCP chief Sharad Pawar also expressed shock over the sad demise of Sushmaji Swaraj. He tweeted that Sushmaji would always call him ‘Sharad Bhau‘. He said we have lost a great statesman, eloquent orator, efficient administrator, fellow parliamentarian and above all a kind hearted person.

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan said he was saddened by the untimely death of Sushma Swaraj. He added that Sushmaji had left her mark as the Leader of Opposition and also Foreign Minister. In a tweet message, Shiv Sena’s youth leader, Aditya Thackeray said the demise of Sushma Swaraj ji is a huge loss to the nation. He said the country has lost a statesman who went beyond political lines.

Calling Swaraj a "graceful and honest leader", Lata Mangeshkar offered her deepest condolences. She tweeted that Sushma Swaraj ji was a graceful and honest leader, a sensitive and selfless soul, had keen understanding of music and poetry and was a dear friend. Members of the film fraternity too expressed grief over the 67-year-old BJP stalwart's demise. 


Veteran actor Anupam Kher went live on Twitter and shared his memories of Swaraj. Saddened by her sudden demise, Kher recalled the times he interacted with her on various occasions. Several Bollywood celebrities, including Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, Swara Bhasker, Karan Johar, Sunny Deol, Boman Irani, Riteish Deshmukh, Ekta Kapoor, and Madhur Bhandarkar took to social media to offer condolences and remembered the beloved leader.
