In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh has said that the year 2020 has been good so far as J&K police and Para military forces is concerned. Speaking to media persons in Jammu today, he said, Police Department was successful in bringing back the youth to join national mainstream. Successful conduct of DDC Elections was one of the major achievement. People of the UT deserve praise for coming out in large numbers to exercise the franchise. Despite attempts by Pakistan to disturb election process,  polls were held smoothly with the help of  J&K police and central para military forces. Not a single casualty took place while maintaining law and order and during operations, there was almost nil collateral damage against terrorists.

In all, 225 terrorists including 26 top commanders were killed during 2020. Counter Terrorist operations were also successful throughout the year.  Security Forces arrested 635 Over Ground Workers and Terrorist associates and seized 426 weapons during the year.

Pakistan tried to use drones to drop weapons but their nefarious designs were foiled by the forces. Thirty six terrorist modules were busted by Police  and about 100 persons arrested in this connection. During the year, 12 terrorists surrendered while the operation was going on against terrorists. Attempts of Pakistan to carry on narco- terrorism in the Union Terriroty have also foiled by the police. In addition, 152 quintal heroine and about 222 quintal poppy seized during the year.

COVID-19 helped in bridging gap between people and police. Police worked in mission mode during COVID situation and was always in the forefront to help people. Police personnel were in the forefront in setting up COVID centres and donating  blood plasma to the needy.

J&K Police personnel were awarded 930 medals during the year in recognition to the services rendered by it. Shaurya Chakkra, Kirti Chakra awards and other medals which are given to Army were also given to police personnel for their exemplary services.
