Senior leader Eknath Khadse quits BJP to join NCP

Tweeted by AIR
Senior leader Eknath Khadse has resigned from his primary membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

In a single-line letter sent to Maharashtra’s BJP chief Chandrakant Patil, he said he is resigning on personal grounds.

Meanwhile, his entry into the Nationalist Congress Party has also been confirmed.

Earlier today, NCP leader and state Water Resources Minister Jayant Patil informed reporters in Mumbai that Khadse would be inducted into the NCP on Friday.

In a tweet, Mr. Patil claimed that numerous other leaders, of the BJP are in touch with the NCP.

Speculations regarding Khadse’s exit from the BJP were rife since last year, especially when he was denied a ticket for 2019 Maharashtra Assembly polls.

Before that, Khadse had been forced to resign as Revenue Minister from the Fadnavis led cabinet after corruption charges were levelled against him in the MIDC land deal case.
