In Jammu and Kashmir, the overall situation is improving with each passing day.  Briefing media persons in Srinagar today evening,  J&K Government spokesperson  Rohit Kansal said that the overall situation continues to be calm adding there has been no report of any untoward incident from any part of the State particularly Kashmir Valley.

The Spokesperson said that restrictions were eased in various parts of Kashmir Valley including  Srinagar City during which situation remained peaceful. However, he said that some restrictions will be there tomorrow but at the same time made it clear that those who have been invited by the Divisional Administration to witness the  Independence Day celebrations will be facilitated to reach the venue.

Kansal said that further relaxations will be given based on local assessment.  On reported detention of J&K Peoples Movement leader, Shah Faesal, Kansal said that any detention or arrest is made based on the local assessment of law and order requirement and taken accordingly.  Additional Director General of Police, SJM Geelani who was also present on the occasion admitted that some detentions have been made under the Public Safety Act adding that these detentions were made as preventive measures.   Geelani further said that some people have also been shifted out of the state.

He said that as of now there are only 2 people who are in hospital with some injuries, while rest who were having minor injuries have been discharged after first-aid.
