One person killed due to clashes between two communities in Gujarat

In Gujarat, one person killed due to bullet injuries following the group clashes between two communities in Akbarpur village in Anand district today. According to police, the incidents of arson also took place after clashes broke out between two communities. The deceased has been identified as local resident Vinod Chavda.

The violence erupted when two groups started stone-pelting after the Friday Namaz in a local mosque. It is understood that the two groups belonging to different communities had a fight on kite flying issues during the Uttarayan festival.

Over half a dozen kutcha pucca houses also burnt down during the clashes. AIR correspondent reports that Police had to use tear gas shells and also opened fire in the air to control the mob. The situation is reported peaceful and under control. Senior police officials are camping in the troubled area with deployment of the additional police force.
