@cmpatowary (FILE PIC)
The Assam Government said that no illegal persons would be included in the National Register of Citizens, NRC list.

Replying to a question in the first day of the four-day State Assembly Session today, Industry and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said that, the State Government has already made its stand clear on the NRC.

He said that no genuine citizens to be left out and no name of illegal resident to be included in the NRC.

Mr. Patowary said that the State Government favoured 20 per cent verification of NRC list in the districts neighbouring Bangladesh and 10 per cent verification in other districts.

Mr. Patowary said that the State Government is committed to fulfill all the clauses of the Assam Accord.

He further said that despite a section of people opposed the Citizenship Amendment Act, not a single Bangladeshi minority citizen came to any of the 26 thousand villages in Assam.
