The National Green Tribunal has ordered action against the polluting industrial units operating in residential areas of Shastri Nagar in Delhi.

It has asked the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to take action against all such entities operating without consent.

A bench headed by NGT chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel noted that various units like bakeries, welding shops and slaughterhouses were functioning in residential areas without proper permission.

The tribunal made it clear that if there was non-compliance of its order, it would take coercive measures against the concerned authorities.

It also asked the Central Pollution Control Board to send a compliance report to the tribunal after three months. The NGT has posted the matter for hearing on 4th December.
