NCP chief Sharad Pawar meets Congress president Sonia Gandhi

NCP chief Sharad Pawar today met Congress president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi and briefed her on the political situation in Maharashtra.

Addressing media after the meeting, Mr Pawar said he had a detailed discussion with Sonia Gandhi on the political situation in the State. He said Congress and NCP leaders will hold further talks on the future course of action.

Mr Pawar said his party is monitoring the situation in the state.

Speaking to media after the meeting, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said it was decided that in a day or two, representatives from NCP and Congress will meet in Delhi to discuss the way forward for government formation in Maharashtra, after 25 days of deadlock.

Maharashtra was placed under the President's Rule on 12th November after no party or alliance staked claim to form government.

The Shiv Sena reached out to the Congress-NCP combine for support after its alliance with the BJP collapsed.
