Maharashtra govt. to begin phase-3 of easing of lockdown tomorrow

As part of the phase-wise ease of the two month old lockdown announced by the Maharashtra government, the phase three begins tomorrow. In phase three, that is from tomorrow, all private offices in the state can operate with up to 10% strength as per requirement with remaining persons working from home.

Also, no permission would be required from any government authorities for permitted activities. Though outdoor portion of sport complexes and stadiums and other open-to-sky public spaces will be permitted to open for individual exercises, spectators and group activities will not be permitted.

Intra district bus service will be allowed with maximum 50 per cent capacity per bus with physical distancing and sanitation measures. The State transport buses will start running additional 250 buses from tomorrow between neighbouring Thane district and Navi Mumbai to ferry commuters from the region to Mumbai. Only one person will be allowed to sit on each seat along with six standees.

All ST buses will be sanitized daily and it will be mandatory to wear masks in buses. BEST undertaking will also resume bus services for all passengers across Mumbai from tomorrow. Keeping in view social distancing norms, only one person will be allowed to sit on each seat along with five standees.

All public and private transport will follow passenger management. Like for two wheelers only one rider will be allowed, whereas for three and four wheelers each one driver plus two passengers will be allowed. Besides all markets/shops will remain open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. If any crowding or failure of social distancing norms is seen, then authorities will immediately close down such shops/markets.

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government is yet to take a decision on opening religious places for devotees in the state as part of lockdown relaxations.

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) last week said 'Unlock-1' will be initiated from June 8 under which the nationwide lockdown, enforced on March 25, will be relaxed to a great extent, including opening of shopping malls, restaurants and religious places, even as strict restrictions will be in place till June 30 in the country.

However, in Maharashtra schools and other educational institutions, shopping malls, restaurants, cinema halls will continue to remain closed till further orders.
