Maharashtra CM announces Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia for kin of those killed in rain-related incidents

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis again visited today the flood-hit Kolhapur and Sangli to take stock of the situation and the relief and rescue operations being carried out there by various agencies.

After reviewing the situation, the Chief Minister announced an ex-gratia of five lakh rupees for next of kins of the people who lost their lives in the rain-related incidents.

Addressing a press conference, Mr Fadnavis said that as flood water recedes, the government will focus on providing drinking water and restoring power supply in the affected areas.

He added that a team of 100 doctors is being sent to Kolhapur and Sangli. There is no lack of medicines, he assured while speaking to reporters in Sangli.

The Chief Minister further informed that the Navy is sending additional teams from Vishakhapatanam for rescue work as Shirol area in Kolhapur is severely affected. Currently, 95 boats are operating in Sangli, he said.
