Kerala Government has decided to request Central Election Commission to call off the bye-elections declared in the two State constituencies as the General Elections to the State Assembly elections are due in just three and half months.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan addressing the  media in Thiruvananthapuram after the All-Party Meet said that all major political leaders opined that the bye-elections declared in Kuttanadu and Chavara constituencies may be called off, as the newly elected members will get only three and half months in office as the State General Elections are due. It has been decided to request the Central Election Commission to reconsider the decision. The All-Party Meeting also decided to request the State Election Commission to postpone the local bodies elections for a couple of months on account of the COVID crisis. But, the meeting also opined that an indefinite delay in local bodies polls should not happen.

Meanwhile, the State Minister for Industries E P Jayarajan has tested positive for COVID-19 today. He is the second Minister in Kerala to contract the  infection as earlier State Finance Minister Thomas Isaac had tested positive for the disease.
