In Jammu and Kashmir, the caseloads in the tertiary healthcare institutions in Srinagar have increased due to spike of cases during the last three weeks. In order to reduce the caseload in these healthcare institutions of Srinagar, Director of Health Services, Kashmir has been asked that only properly referred patients from districts of Kashmir Valley should be allowed and subsequently admitted in the tertiary category-one healthcare institutions of Srinagar.

AIR correspondent reports that, government has directed that the patients from the districts in Kashmir will be admitted in category-one healthcare institutions at Srinagar only on proper referral by the District Health authorities. Director Health Kashmir has been asked through a communiqué that the patients from districts in Kashmir will be accepted and admitted in Category-One Healthcare Institutions at Srinagar which are SKIMS Soura, SMHS Hospital, Chest Diseases Hospital Srinagar and SKIMS Medical College & Hospital Bemina, only when they are properly referred by the District Health authorities. This shall be ensured to reduce the case- load in the tertiary care institutions, so that only the patients requiring critical care are admitted in the category-One healthcare institutions in Srinagar. The communiqué further asked the district health authorities to adhere to the instructions strictly as the patients from other districts are reporting directly to Category-One Tertiary Care institutions at Srinagar.
