India were assured of an unprecedented two medals at the AIBA World Men's Boxing Championships after Amit Panghal and Manish Kaushik entered the semifinals of the marquee event at Ekaterinburg in Russia today.

Asian Games Championship gold-medallist Panghal defeated Filipino Carlo Paalam 4-1 in the 52-kg category. Commonwealth Games silver-medallist Kaushik beat Brazil's Wanderson de Oliveira 5-0 in the 63-kg category.

With their victories, both the boxers also sealed their maiden world medals.

However, former India Open gold-medallist Sanjeet lost 1-4 to Ecuador's seventh-seeded Julio Castillo Torres in his 91-kg semifinal bout.
