@PIB_India
Health Ministry has said that the deaths in India due to COVID-19 per million Population is also amongst the lowest in the World. It stands at 100 deaths per million population while global average is 186. Addressing media in New Delhi, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said there are many countries which have reported 6 to 9 times more deaths than India. He also said that India's COIVD-19 cases per million population is also amongst the lowest in the world. He said, new cases are continuously declining and only 31 thousand new cases were reported across the country. Mr Bhushan said that in the month of November,the average daily recoveries remained more than the average daily reported cases. He said, during the month, average of 43 thousand 152 cases reported daily while the recoveries were 47 thousand 159. He said, over 10 lakh average daily tests conducted and so far over 14 crore test have been done.
India’s Covid-19 infections per million and deaths per million are both much lower than many developed countries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi first mentioned COVID-19 to his entire Cabinet on 29th January and asked them to take it seriously. He also directed that India’s response must be entirely science-based. At this time India had not even seen its first case. The Prime has been personally monitoring India's statistics every morning since early March. He then calls up Chief Ministers to speak to them away from the public eye to get a sense of the situation.Since then, Mr Modi has discussed COVID-19 situation in all Cabinet meetings, asking Ministers about their assessment of situation in their respective areas. He has interacted with all sections of society from healthcare professionals, to sportspersons, to media to motivate them to spread awareness and harness their expertise.
Prime Minister's leadership has proved to be a crucial ingredient in containing the spread of the covid-19 .Mr Modi addressed the nation and came out with a unique Jan Bhagidari initiative called ‘Janata Curfew’. The people responded in an emphatic way and this prepared the nation mentally for an upcoming lockdown. After that, he announced a nationwide lockdown from March 24. In the same address, he gave the message of ‘Jaan Hai Toh Jahaan Hai’ to convey the seriousness of the situation.He also asked people to wear masks and clean hands regularly, much needed and yet again, people responded.Next, before the ‘Unlock’ phase, Mr Modi addressed the nation again and guided them with the philosophy of ‘Jaan Bhi Jahaan Bhi’.India had gone into lockdown early and also went into the Unlock phase pretty early.Throughout these phases, Mr Modi's personal leadership assured every Indian that they were in safe hands that was following sound scientific advice and putting the objective of saving lives above everything else and 152 cases reported daily while the recoveries were 47 thousand 159. He said, over 10 lakh average daily tests conducted and so far over 14 crore test have been done.
