Incessant rains worsen flood situation in Assam; over 2 lakh people affected

In Assam, flood situation worsened in the state as new areas are inundated due to incessant rains . Official sources said that 2 lakh 20 thousand people are affected by floods in 13 districts. Flood water also submerged crop fields, roads and breached embankments. Over 12 thousand people are taking shelter at the relief camps.

Flood water also submerged All India Radio station at Dibrugarh. Around 40 percent of the Kaziranga national park is also submerged due to floods. However the Director of the park said that the situation is not alarming . District administrations are distributing essential foods items at flood hit areas.
