Heavy snowfall throws normal life out of gear in Kashmir valley

In Jammu and Kashmir, heavy snowfall has thrown normal life out of gear in Kashmir valley. The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway continues to be closed for the third consecutive day.
 
Landslides occurred on the highway at multiple places. Continuous snowfall is hampering restoration work and the road has turned slippery. Hundreds of vehicles along the highway are stranded. Srinagar city has also received season's first major snowfall causing disruption in vehicular traffic and power supply.
 
Authorities have deployed men and machinery to clear roads and restore power supply in the areas it got disrupted due to snow. Met Department has predicted more snow in next twenty four hours.
