Gujarat CM deploys senior ministers to supervise disaster response arrangements in cyclone prone districts

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has deployed senior ministers of his cabinet to rush to cyclone prone districts and supervise the disaster response arrangements.

Accordingly, Power Minister Saurabh Patel is now in Rajkot, while Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama has been assigned Gir Somnath district while Tourism Minister Jayesh Radadiya is now present in Junagadh district. In Gandhinagar, 14 senior IAS officers are monitoring the situation from State Disaster Response Centre.

Gujarat Additional Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar said that more than 1 lakh 23 thousand people were evacuated till noon today. They have been accommodated in 1216 shelter homes opened in 10 cyclone prone districts. Mr Kumar said, 47 NDRF and 11 SDRF teams deployed in Saurashtra have taken their position and are acquainting with local people. He said, 35 army rescue teams and two companies of BSF have also been deployed.
 
Moreover, Gujarat BJP has geared up their party workers for relief, rescue and medical help activities in view of the Cyclone Vayu in coastal belt of Saurashtra and Kutch comprising 10 districts. BJP Spokesman Bharat Pandya has said , State level control room cum 24 x 7 helpline is opened in the party office situated in Koba village near Gandhinagar.

Mr. Pandya added that Gujarat BJP President Jitubhai Vaghani is camping in Rajkot to coordinate the rescue and relief activities in addition to massive collection of food packets contributions and its last mile delivery to needy people in affected areas. He said, the BJP cadre will supplement the relief activities being planned by the state administration.
