Effects of super-cyclone Amphan witnessed in several districts of Jharkhand

In Jharkhand, the effects of super-cyclone Amphan was witnessed in several districts of Sahibganj, Dumka, Pakur, Chatra, Godda, Saraikela Kharsawan adjourning to West Bengal borders and some parts of East Singhbhum and West Singhbhum district in the state. Continuous rainfall with squall and heavy storms lashed most of the affected districts of the state.

Old and dilapidated buildings and structures have collapsed due to intermittent rain and strong winds, while few people in Sahibganj and Saraikela Kharsawan have been injured. Water logging on the roads in many places can be seen in several districts while the cyclone has also affected the power supply in these districts.

Most of the severely affected districts were ed by district administration continuously to keep and remain indoors to be safe from the cyclonic weather changes. There has been no casualty reported from Jharkhand so far.


However, the sky has been cloudy since yesterday across the state and moisture laden fast moving winds can be felt. People in unaffected districts and far off from coastal areas have got relief from heatwave due to the change in weather. The temperature has also dropped significantly.

Meanwhile, Director of Indian Meteorological Department, Ranchi said that the weather shall return to normalcy in Jharkhand after May 22.
