Delegation of opposition parties met EC on issue of VVPAT-EVM verification

DD News
A delegation of opposition parties today met Election Commission in New Delhi on the issue of VVPAT-EVM verification and reiterated their demand to increase random matching of VVPAT slips with EVMs.

Talking to media after the meeting, TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said conducting the elections in transparent manner is commission's job and the opposition parties are working to protect democracy by bringing transparency.

Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi said the Supreme Court's decision does not prevent poll panel to voluntarily increase the random matching of VVPAT slips with EVMs.

The BJP attacked the opposition saying that they are raising doubts on EVMs as they know their fate in the Lok Sabha polls. Party leader and Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi alleged that these parties are looking to blame EVMs for their imminent defeat.
