68 % polling recorded for 4 Lok Sabha and 28 Assembly seats in Odisha

In Odisha, 68 percent polling was recorded for four Lok Sabha and 28 Assembly seats yesterday.

State chief electoral officer Surendra Kumar said that the first phase of polls in the state was a free, fair and peaceful manner and no untoward incident reported in the polls.

AIR correspondent reports that despite initial hiccups of delay in voting due to technical glitches in EVMs at a few places, polling passed off peacefully. The election office said failure rate of EVMs has been less than one per cent in the State.

The CEO said there were six booths in Chitrakonda of Malkangiri district saw no voting due to Maoist threat. Similarly, some incidents were reported in the poll bound areas where the voters did not cast their votes for various demand. This year, as many as 7 thousand 2 hundred thirty-three polling booths were set up across the state for the first phase, out of which 730 booths were webcasted.
