6,381 Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness centres operate in Maharashtra
AIR NEWS
In a bid to provide public health service to the last person in the society, the Central Government in the year 2018 launched the Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
Under this scheme there are more than fifty thousand Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness centres are functioning in the country, out of which 6 thousand 3 hundred and 81 centres are in Maharashtra.
A staggering 4 thousand one hundred and eleven of them are in the remote corners of the state. These centres are the backbone of the health department to provide regular health service to the people.
Through the health and welfare centres comprehensive primary health service is being provided to newborn babies, mothers and adolescents. These centres serve in controlling the contagious disease. The HWCs also oversee the implementation of the Union health ministry's E-Sanjeevani platform.
Under this, patient-to-doctor, OPD service and doctor-to-doctor consultation are also provided.
During the Covid-19 pandemic too, the HWCs played an important role in contact tracing, community inspection and quick identification of patients.
