58 special flights scheduled to operate from abroad to Tamil Nadu: Centre to Madras HC

The Centre has told Madras High Court that 58 special flights are scheduled to operate from abroad to Tamil Nadu under the Vande Bharat Mission. In response to a petition by the DMK, the Additional Solicitor General told the court that the flights are scheduled from yesterday to 5th of August. Forty one of the special evacuation flights will be operated to Chennai and others to Trichy, Coimbatore and Madurai airports.

Meanwhile, the total COVID-19 infection in Tamil Nadu has surpassed one lakh 86 thousand with 5,849 new cases reported yesterday. The active caseload is over 51-thousand seven hundred. Testing has been augmented further in the state.
