44 lakh tonnes food grains lifted by States, UTs under PMGKAY-2: Consumer Affairs Ministry

A total of over 44 lakh tonnes food grains lifted by States and Union Territories till date under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana - 2.

The Consumer Affairs Ministry said,  a total of 201 lakh tonnes food grains will be distributed among 81 crore beneficiaries under the scheme. 

A total of 12 lakh tonnes chana will also be distributed among 19 crore families. 

PMGKAY-2 has been started from 1st July and it will continue till November this year. 

The Ministry said, a total of over 759 lakh tonnes food grain stock is available with Food Corporation of India.
