Addressing the 16th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention through virtual mode today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the youth to use technology to take forward India's pride and culture across the globe. He said today the internet has connected people from various corners of the world but our hearts are connected with our mutual love for the country. He said, in the past years, Non-Resident Indians have strengthened their identity by showing their commitment for the betterment of the society. Mr Modi said, he feels proud to hear heartwarming stories of NRIs coming forward and helping those in need.

The Prime Minister said, today, India is using technology to defeat corruption and lakhs and crores of rupees are being directly transferred to beneficiaries' bank accounts. He said, today, India's space programme and tax start-up ecosystem is a leader in the global sphere. Mr Modi said, even during Covid, several new unicorns and tech start-ups started from India. The Prime Minister said, India has done structural reforms from education to enterprise to bring wholesome changes. He said, to promote manufacturing in the country, India has started the production-linked incentive, PLI scheme, which has gained a lot of popularity in very less time.

External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar has said that Covid has taught the country many lessons, prominent among them the need to be more self-reliant. He said, its uncertainty has created a global demand for shorter, more trusted and resilient supply chains. Addressing the inaugural session of the 16th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention through virtual mode today, Dr Jaishankar said, we, in India, have responded through the policy of Atmanirbhar Bharat, building stronger capacities at home to make a larger contribution abroad. He said, during Covid pandemic India not only made its own medicine requirements but supplied medicines and  the rest of the world. He said, similarly India not only brought our own people back but those of our neighbor.
