Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu welcomes newly elected candidates to Rajya Sabha

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has extended warm welcome to all the 61candidates who have been elected to the Rajya Sabha from 20 States in thebiennial elections. In a series of tweets, Mr Naidu said, the 61 members representingas many as 20 political parties besides independents highlight the diversity ofour polity.        

The Vice President said he is keenly looking forward to meeting all the membersat the earliest. He said, the elected represent a healthy mix of veterans andfirst-timers to the House. He hoped that all the elected members will make gooduse of this opportunity over the next six years. Mr Naidu said it is an honourto be in the Rajya Sabha, an institution founded on the principle of federalismthat guides law making and governance in the country.
