Congress alleges political vendetta in P Chidambaram's arrest

Congress party today alleged political vendetta in former Finance Minister and Home Minister P Chidambaram's arrest. Briefing media in New Delhi, Party Spokesman Randeep Surjewala said neither Mr Chidambaram nor his son, have been accused of any offence in the INX Media case. He added that there is no offence disclosed against the former Finance Minister in the FIR. The Congress Spokesman claimed that there was no hurry or reason to arrest Mr Chidambaram except for the blatant intent of humiliating and tarnishing the reputation. He said, Mr Chidambaram has cooperated fully with the investigating authorities on every single occasion. He said the Congress party stands with Mr Chidambaram and reiterated party's unwavering belief in his innocence.

Talking to media in Delhi, Mr Chidambaram's son Karti Chidambaram said his father's arrest is not merely targeting of a person, but also the targeting of Congress party.
