Leh: LSRC Men's, Kharu women lift 1st LG Ice Hockey Cup in their respective section

Ladakh Scouts Regiment Centre (LSRC) Men's and Kharu women have lifted the 1st Lieutenant Governor Ice Hockey Cup in their respective sections, in Leh today. In a jam packed NDS Indoor stadium, nail biting final matches have exhilarated the audience.

After Domkar levelled the scores with 1-1 in the stipulated time, Kharu beat the Domkhar women by 3-1 goals in a penalty shootout. While Ladakh Scouts won the finals, beating the arch rival on ice hockey rink the ITBP, by 3-0 goals.

Ladakh LG RK Mathur gave the cups to the winners and Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal presented the cash awards to the teams and individuals for their best performance. A total of 8 men teams and Five women teams have played for the cup.

Speaking on the occasion, LG RK Mathur announced that UT administration has reserved quota in jobs for nationally qualified sports persons.  He also said that Synthetic track in Leh is near for completion, Multipurpose Sports complexes, sports hostels, 41 Ice hockey rinks in Leh and Kargil are in the pipeline.

However, he said, the UT administration is going to sports infrastructure in all government schools this year. He hoped the infrastructure would improve the quality of sports in the region. He also hoped after five years, Ladakh players would be representing the country in the International arena.

Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal also spoke on the occasion.  While Ladakh UT Advisor Umang Narula, Secretary AK Sahu, ADGP SS Khandare, Sports Secretary Ravinder Kumar, DC Shrikant Suse, SSP Rajiv pandey also present on the occasion.
