About 50 per cent people in Pune have developed antibodies: CERO survey
File Pic
The results of Pune's first antibody seroprevalence study released earlier this week has provided some valuable insights into how the disease has spread in Pune, and whether the outbreak may be nearing its end in the city. Further study on the stability of these antibodies is going on at IISER.
AIR correspondent reports, according to a recent CERO survey, about 50 per cent of the people in the five corona-infected areas in the city of Pune have developed antibodies that can prevent corona. Now the research is going on in Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Popularly known as IISER on the stability of these antibodies in the human body.
Simultaneously they will try to find out remedies for making these antibodies more stable. No new blood sample will be taken for this study, it will be based on a sample taken during a CERO survey. However the experts from IISER have said that the research will take at least another 5 to 6 weeks.
Perhaps this research will shed more light on the process of the formation of these antibodies, which could also help in the ongoing research on anti-corona vaccines.
