In a bid to create an all-inclusive festival, the 50th IFFI edition is screening three films for those with special needs, under the ‘Accessible India-Accessible Films’ section.

This is a joint collaboration between IFFI, Saksham Bharat and UNESCO. The aim is to promote the creation of inclusive spaces for the differently-abled through Audio deion.

AIR correspondent reports that the International Film Festival of India in its Golden jubilee year celebration has provided a platform for the visually-impaired or the divyangs to experience the movies like any other individual.

Three movies have been specially selected under the accessible India-accessible films section which includes the Rajkumar Hirani directed, ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story and a Konkani film.

The speciality of these movies is that additional narration has filled the space where there are no dialogues. A group of 12 students associated with the National Association for Blind from Santacruz, Goa were took the experience of the Sanjay Dutt starrer, Lage Raho Munna Bhai.

Well-known Bollywood actress, and a first-timer at the festival, Tapsee Pannu said that she was surprised to know such films were made. She said she has not seen films that use audio to explain the scenes.

Some students said they have watched movies previously in its original form but the new format with additional narration, specially meant for them gave them a great experience.
