Heavy rains disrupted normal lives in Madhya Pradesh

Heavy rains that continued for the last few days have disrupted normal lives in Madhya Pradesh. Met Department has warned of heavy rains today. The rivers and nullahs are in spate in the state and so far more than a dozen people have died in different accidents due to rain.

Road connectivity has been broken in most districts and water has entered houses in many areas. Due to continuous rains in the state, additional water is being released into rivers by opening the gates of 21 dams including Bargi, which has created flood-like situations in many areas.

The opening of the gate of Bargi Dam in Jabalpur district has led to a huge rise of water level in the river Narmada which is flowing around the danger mark in more than a dozen districts of the state. The tributaries of Narmada River are also overflowing. The MeT Department has issued a red warning of heavy rains in 8 districts Barwani, Damoh, Dhar, Dewas, Indore, Rajgarh, Vidisha and Ujjain while,rains in other 16 districts.
