All major rivers in spate due to torrential rain in MP

In Madhya Pradesh, all the major rivers are in spate due to torrential rain for the last two days and drainage of water from overflowing reservoirs. Due to the formation of low pressure area, heavy rains with thunderstorms are expected during the next 24 hours in various parts of Madhya Pradesh. AIR correspondent reports that in view of the possibility of heavy rains, a holiday has been declared today for schools in a dozen districts including Bhopal.

The most horrible situation is in Vidisha district where water has entered the station and hospital. Road connectivity has been lost in most districts. Frequent opening of gates of almost all major dams is in progress. Fifty out of total 52 districts, excluding Sidhi and Shahdol districts, have received more than normal or normal rainfall in this rainy season. According to the MeT Department, 32 districts including Sheopur, Vidisha, Bhopal, Sehore, Raisen, Khandwa, Hoshangabad and Khargone will receive thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rains in the next 24 hours. The Relief Commissioner of the state has also asked the Collectors of these districts to be vigilant.
