MP govt revokes Indore hospital licence after 11 lose sight post cataract surgery

Madhya Pradesh government has revoked the licence of a private hospital in Indore, where 11 elderly persons suffered significant impairment of vision due to infection.

These persons underwent cataract surgeries on August 8 in this hospital. A three-member team comprising the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) and two government ophthalmologists had been constituted to inquire into the case.

A team from Sankara Nethralaya from Chennai is being called for further treatment of these patients.

Chief Minister Kamal Nath has announced compensation and free treatment for each of the affected persons.
