@MEAIndia
India handed over 250 pre-fabricated houses to Myanmar in Maung Daw today for use of displaced returnees.

External Affairs Ministry said in a release that India had taken up the project under its Rakhine State Development Programme under which 25 million dollars are allocated for a period of five years.

Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Saurabh Kumar handed over the documents related to the houses for use of displaced returnees from Bangladesh.

Myanmar's Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Dr. Win Myat Aye thanked the Indian government for its assistance and recalled the growing bilateral ties between the two countries.

India and Myanmar had signed an MoU in 2017 to contribute to the socio-economic development of the area. Another 22 proposals which include solar power related projects, construction-related projects, agriculture mechanization projects and capacity building projects are presently under consideration.
