WB Assembly passes bill endorsing hiking of retirement age of Vice-chancellors of State own Universities

The West Bengal Assembly today passed a bill endorsing hiking of retirement age of Vice-chancellors of State own Universities from 65 years to 70 years replacing an ordinance on the matter.

Replying to the West Bengal University Law Amendment Bill in the state Assembly today the Higher Education Minister Mr. Partha Chatterjee told that an expert committee will recommend to the Government for extension of services of Vice Chancellor. 

On the basis of recommendation the Government will take decision for extension of his services for 2 years in first phase and it may continue till attaining of his age at 70 years. The West Bengal is having 30 state-owned universities at present.
