MeT department issues red for Odisha as low pressure to trigger heavy rainfall

@IMDWeather
The MeT department has issued a red for Odisha as a low pressure forming over the Bay of Bengal is intensifying and slowly moving towards the west. Some parts are already witnessing Monsoon showers, but the state has registered a deficient rainfall this month.

The MeT department said, the rain will increase across the state from today and some parts may receive heavy showers till Tuesday. Squally weather with the wind speed reaching up to 50 km per hour is likely to prevail over north Bay of Bengal and the adjoining west central bay. The districts most likely to be affected due to the heavy rain include Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapda and Dhenkanal.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea. The state government has put all the 30 districts on . In an advisory issued to District collectors, Special Relief Commissioner BP Sethi said, the administrative machinery of all the districts has been asked to remain to meet any situation that may arise in the event of heavy rainfall.
