Madhesi Party, Naya Shakti Party merged to form new political outfit named Samajwadi Party-Nepal

In Nepal, Madhesi Party and Naya Shakti Party has merged to form a new political outfit named Samajwadi Party-Nepal. The Madhesi party was led by Deputy Prime Minister Upendra Yadav while former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai led Naya Shakti Party.


Mr. Bhattarai said the new party would be based in the Terai-Madhes region in the southern plains. According to the agreement of merger, Bhattarai will chair the Samajwadi Party-Nepal's federal council, while Yadav, who is also the Health Minister, chair the central committee.
