150 CAPF companies to reach TN for security during polls

One hundred and fifty more companies of Central Armed Police Forces will reach Tamil Nadu very soon to provide security during Lok Sabha polls and Assembly bye-elections to be held on April 18. 

This was announced by the state Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo in Chennai on Friday. He said the Election Commission has given the nod to deploy twenty more companies of central forces as compared to the previous Lok Sabha elections. 

Ten companies of central police are already camping in various cities in the state. 

Mr Sahoo said the Commission has issued instructions to strictly monitor money flow during elections.

Meanwhile, the Income Tax authorities have unearthed 45.57 crore rupees during searches till on Thursday.

This is in addition to the 94.10 crore rupees seized by election flying squads and static surveillance teams. 

Election officials have also impounded    520.65 kg gold and 421 kg silver for want of documents showing ownership of the valuables.
