In Bihar,  Chief Electoral Officer Srinivasa has informed our correspondent that authorities have been asked to find ways to check the use of   FM radio channels in Nepal by political parties and candidates for campaigning purposes in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections.

He said the FM radios from across the border frequently aired poll jingles, political messages and advertisements. The FM channels are easily accessible in several important constituencies close to the border.

Bihar shares a 750 km long border with Nepal touching Champaran, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Supaul, Araria and Kishanganj districts.

The Chief Electoral Officer said district magistrates in all border districts have been instructed to appraise their counterparts in Nepal about the need to ensure that there is no interference with the democratic process in India.

He asked the Chief District Officers of Nepal to ensure that there is no violation of the model code from across the border through FM channels which are accessible on the Indian side.
