With the BJP releasing the first list of 100 candidates for 147-member Assembly in Odisha, the election fever is heating up in the state.

Several leaders, who recently joined BJP after quitting BJD, have been given tickets. The list includes Prakash Behera, Damodar Rout, Kusum Tete and K Narayan Rao.

The party has given tickets to seven women in its first list of candidates for the assembly election.

The BJP, which is the last among the three major parties in Odisha to announce its candidate list, seems to have rewarded turncoats in several seats.

However, the BJP has not announced its candidates from Hinjili and Bijepur seats, from where BJD President and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced to contest the polls.

The elections for 147 Assembly seats in Odisha will be held in four phases starting from 11th April.

Prior to the announcement of the list of candidates for Assembly seats, the BJP had, last evening declared that former bureaucrat Aparajita Sarangi will contest from the  Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha constituency and Union tribal affairs minister Jual Oram will contest from Sundergarh again.

Former BJD member of Parliament Balabhadra Majhi, who had quit the ruling party two days ago, was nominated for Nabarangpur Lok Sabha constituency and former BJD MP Baijayant Panda, who is now the national vice-president of the BJP, got the ticket for the Kendrapara Lok Sabha seat.
