General elections in country will be held on time: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said today that the general elections in the country will be held on time.

The CEC was in the Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow for the past two days to review poll preparations in the state.

The Chief election commissioner along with Commissioners Ashok Lavasa and Sushil Chandra was addressing media persons at Lucknow. 

Mr Arora said the Election Commission is committed to holding free, fair and peaceful polls. He said all polling centre in Uttar Pradesh will be manned with VVPAT -EVM machines.

He said, the commission will launch C-vigil App so that any citizen, whose name will be kept secret, can register his poll-related complaints. 

The CEC said, as per a new notification of the commission, candidates will have to give details of their properties abroad, besides those in the country.
