At least 45 people, mostly children, died recently in a refugee camp in northeastern Syria as a result of the tough humanitarian situation.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights today said, the deaths were reported in al-Hol camp in the province of al-Hasakah. It said, the humanitarian situation is tough in that area due to the harsh weather as tens of tents have been flooded.

Around 40,000 people seek refuge in the camp and many of its residents have fled the Islamic State terror group's control in eastern Syria.
