Assam govt says current situation of the state as peaceful but challenging

The Assam government has said that the current situation of the state as peaceful but challenging. Talking to newspersons in Guwahati along with DGP Kuladhar Saikia, Chief Secretary Alok Kumar appealed all organisations to do protest in democratic manner. 

His comment came following the widespread protests that Assam has witnessed of late against the Citizenship Amendment bill. He said ,the government felt that people have rights to do agitations but that should not threat to the law and order situation. The DGP said that, police are ready to face any situation and are committed to ensure peace. 

Mr. Saikia said that a total of 8 cases have been registered so far in the state and investigations are on. He also said that 14 persons have been arrested so far for involving in the unlawful activities and police would go against any lawbreakers. 

The DGP said that police would investigate if any militants group are involved in the protests. Both of them appealed people of the state and organisations to maintain peace and tranquillity.
