In Iraq, four policemen were killed and eight injured today in two serial bomb blasts in the town of Al-Sharqat, around 250 kilometres north of Baghdad. Security officials said that the first blast occurred at 8 AM as the policemen were taking up their posts. The second bomb went off an hour and a half later as the reinforcements arrived.

Al-Sharqat was held by the Islamic State terrorists until 2017. It was one of the last areas recaptured by the government from the terror outfit.
