US President Donald Trump has paid respects to former President George HW Bush, whose remains lay in state in the US Capitol. Mr Trump and his wife made a brief visit to the Capitol rotunda, where Mr Bush's flag-draped coffin was resting as part of tributes to honour the 41st US President and commemorate his extraordinary life. Hundreds of people paid their final respects began at the Capitol late yesterday.

94-year-old Bush passed away on Friday, at his home in Houston. The Republican is being honoured with four days of commemorations and services in Washington and Texas, where he will be buried on Thursday. Mr Trump is scheduled to attend a state funeral service tomorrow at Washington National Cathedral -- the first presidential funeral since Gerald Ford died in 2006.
