Maharashtra govt to implement Seventh Pay Commission from January 1

Maharashtra government will implement the Seventh Pay Commission from January 1, 2019. The state treasury will have to bear an additional burden of 40,000 crore rupees for implementing the 7th pay commission.
 
The decision will benefit close to 20 lakh state government employees. 
 
Minister of State for Finance Deepak Kesarkar made this announcement in the Legislative Council yesterday. He was replying a question by MLC Kapil Patil during Question Hour. 
 
Mr Kesarkar said the government had appointed a committee headed by retired bureaucrat KP Bakshi over this issue but it will not wait for the report and implement Seventh Pay Commission from January 2019.
