Will continue to engage with US, other stakeholders to ensure energy security: India

New Delhi will continue to engage with Washington and other stakeholders to ensure that energy security of India is not compromised. 

Replying to a media query on US imposing sanctions against Iran, Ministry of External Affairs MEA Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar Said, United States is aware of India's expectations of the requirement for oil domestically which is critical for sustaining the economic growth.

Mr Kumar said, India had several rounds of discussions with US as well as Iran on the matter.

Replying to another query, he said, India has lodged strong protests with China and Pakistan on the proposed bus service in Pakistan Occupied areas of Jammu and Kashmir. He said, any such bus service through Pakistan Occupied areas of Jammu and Kashmir will be a violation of India's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Reacting to a query on Asia Bibi case, Mr Kumar said, Pakistan should give equal treatment to its minorities. 

Pakistan's Supreme Court had acquitted a Christian woman Asia Bibi who had been earlier sentenced to death for blasphemy.

On developments in Sri Lanka, the Spokesperson said, India is following the developments in Sri Lanka very closely and it hopes that democratic values and constitutional process in Sri Lanka will be respected.
