PM Modi to interact with over 100 MUDRA beneficiaries from across country

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with over 100 MUDRA beneficiaries from across the country at his residence in New Delhi today. Launched in 2015, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana PMMY has been one of the flagship initiatives of the Government to promote entrepreneurial spirit among the youth by providing easy loans without guarantees. In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, he is looking forward to the meeting and it will be wonderful to speak to them and personally hear about their journeys.
In a Twitter message on Sunday, Mr Modi said, three years ago the Mudra Yojana was launched to give wings to the aspirations of our citizens and harness the entrepreneurial energy among the youth. The Prime Minister said he is delighted to see how Mudra Yojana has brought prosperity in the lives of many.
Mr Modi said, a substantial number of Mudra beneficiaries are women and youngsters from the SC, ST and OBC communities, which is extremely heartening. Prime Minister said, through Mudra Yojana, the MSME sector is receiving a substantial impetus.
 
According to an official release, as on 23rd March this year, over 4 crore and 53 lakh loans have been sanctioned, amounting to over 2 lakh 28 thousand crore rupees. The total amount disbursed under this scheme is over 2 lakh 20 thousand crore rupees. 

The scheme was launched to promote and ensure access to financial facilities to Non-Corporate Small Business Sector. The loans are provided in three categories- Shishu, Kishore and Tarun, to highlight the stage of development and funding needs of the beneficiary micro unit or entrepreneur.
